British Library Sound Archive - Topic World Series

London, 07.03.20

Our tenth programme celebrates a collaboration between the British Library’s World and Traditional Music collections and the London-based label Topic Records. From 1999, unpublished, unique field recordings and reissues of 78-rpm discs and LPs were compiled into sixteen releases as part of the Topic World Series.

These sixteen CD publications remain fresh and inspiring and in this programme, we zig-zag through them on a dazzling and rich musical journey, which begins in Balochistan and ends in Egypt via Peru, India, and more.
